  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Idle for regular-season finale

Stephenson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Stephenson will receive a breather for the regular-season finale after he started behind the plate the last two days. Jose Trevino will handle catching duties Sunday.

  • Giants' Casey Schmitt: Idle Sunday

Schmitt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Schmitt will take a seat to close out the season after he had started each of the previous three games. Christian Koss will fill in for Schmitt at the keystone and will bat eighth.

  • Giants' Bryce Eldridge: Taking seat Sunday

Eldridge is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Eldridge will close out the season with consecutive absences from the lineup as the Giants go with Rafael Devers at designated hitter and Wilmer Flores at first base. Since receiving a call-up from Triple-A Sacramento on Sept. 15, Eldridge has hit just .115 with a 35.3 percent strikeout rate over 34 plate appearances.

  • Mickey Moniak LF | COL

Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Idle for third straight game

Moniak is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

The Rockies haven't announced that Moniak is dealing with an injury, but he'll nonetheless close out the season with three consecutive absences from the lineup. Yanquiel Fernandez will draw another start in right field in place of Moniak, who has compiled a .270 batting average with 24 home runs, nine stolen bases, 68 RBI and 62 runs in 135 games on the campaign.

  • Edmundo Sosa 2B | PHI

Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Moving back to reserve role

Sosa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Sosa had started at shortstop each of the last four games, but he'll shift back into a utility role for the regular-season finale and for the Phillies' playoff run. Trea Turner (hamstring) will reclaim the shortstop job after being activated from the 10-day injured list.

  • Robert Hassell CF | WAS

Nationals' Robert Hassell: Taking seat against RHP

Hassell is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Though he had started the previous two matchups against right-handed pitchers, Hassell will sit against White Sox righty Shane Smith in the season finale. Jacob Young will get the nod in center field instead.

  • Mets' Cedric Mullins: Idle against RHP

Mullins is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Miami.

Mullins continues to bleed playing time to Tyrone Taylor, ceding center field for a second straight game against a right-handed pitcher. Mullins hasn't generated multiple hits in a game since Aug. 23, and he has gone 7-for-57 (.123) at the plate during that stretch.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Tommy Edman: On bench Sunday

Edman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Seattle.

Edman missed back-to-back games with an ankle injury before going 0-for-5 on Saturday. The 30-year-old will get a day off Sunday for Game 162, leaving second base duties to Hyeseong Kim.

  • Alec Burleson 1B | STL

    Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Sitting Sunday

Burleson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.

Burleson's streak of 17 consecutive starts comes to an end in Game 162, as he gets the day off in a meaningless contest for the Cardinals. Yohel Pozo will handle first base.

  • Vidal Brujan SS | NYM

Braves' Vidal Brujan: On bench for season finale

Brujan (hip) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Brujan hasn't appeared in a game since Sept. 21 after leaving that contest with right hip tightness. It's unclear if the injury remains an issue or if he simply hasn't been needed on the field. Assuming he doesn't enter Sunday's contest, the 27-year-old will finish the year with a .253/.305/.310 slash line in 95 plate appearances spanning stints with Atlanta, the Orioles and the Cubs.
