  • Dwayne Bacon: Let go by Lakers
    By RotoWire

Bacon was waived by the Lakers on Saturday, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports. Bacon got run in two preseason games -- he posted 5.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 17.4 minutes per game -- but didn't impress enough to earn a roster spot. He played overseas last season, and that seems like his destiny for this year.

    By RotoWire

Bacon agreed to a contract with the Lakers on Monday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. After spending last season with AS Monaco of the EuroLeague, Bacon will get a chance to make his return to the NBA in Los Angeles. The 2017 second-round pick has career averages of 7.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists across four seasons with both the Hornets and Magic. Even if he wins out in his battle for a roster spot, Bacon is unlikely to be a regular member of head coach Darvin Ham's rotation.

  • Dwayne Bacon: Let go by Knicks
    By RotoWire

Bacon was waived by the Knicks on Thursday, Marc Berman of the New York Post reports. Bacon has struggled to find a stable NBA role on a competitive team, and that doesn't change with this transaction. He's coming off a career year where he averaged 10.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists, but he was relatively inefficient. The 26-year-old is likely running out of chances to prove himself.

  • Bacon and the Knicks agreed to terms on a contract Monday, Tim Bontemps of ESPN reports. Bacon spent last season in Orlando, where he appeared in all 72 games and averaged 10.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 25.7 minutes per contest -- all career highs. The Florida State product will now head to a much deeper and more talented Knicks roster, so it's likely that he'll fill a reduced role off the bench. The four-year veteran will compete with Alec Burks, Evan Fournier, Kevin Knox and rookie Quentin Grimes for minutes.

  • Dwayne Bacon: Time in Orlando over
    By RotoWire

The Magic waived Bacon on Sunday. For an Orlando team that lost several key players to injuries and 2020-21 and was one of the more active teams ahead of the trade deadline, Bacon was one of the few constants in the lineup. He appeared in all 72 of the Magic's games last season and started 50 of them, but he was one of the NBA's least-productive rotation players. Though he averaged double figures in scoring (10.9 points per game) for the first time in his career, he shot a dismal 40.2 percent from the field and 28.5 percent from three-point range. He also did little to supplement the offense, averaging only 3.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.1 blocks across 25.7 minutes per contest. Bacon should find work elsewhere around the NBA, but his underwhelming resume through four years in the league means he may have to settle for a minimum deal in free agency.
