• Grizzlies' Ty Jerome: Out at least six more weeks

  The Grizzlies announced Saturday that Jerome is progressing well in his rehab from a high-grade right calf strain and is expected to make his season debut within 6-to-9 weeks. Following a career-best season with the Cavaliers in 2024-25, Jerome signed a three-year, $27.66 million deal with the Grizzlies in the offseason and was expected to play a prominent role off the bench. The 28-year-old guard has yet to play after injuring his calf late in the preseason, and given the Grizzlies' latest update, Jerome's absence appears likely to extend into the new year. With Ja Morant (calf) likely out until at least early December and Javon Small (toe) and Scotty Pippen (toe) also far away from returns along with Jerome, the Grizzlies are likely to lean on Vince Williams, Cam Spencer and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope as their primary options at point guard for the next several games.

The Grizzlies have yet to provide a timetable for his return, so the 28-year-old guard can be considered week-to-week until the team provides another update on his recovery. With Jerome, Ja Morant (calf) and Javon Small (toe) all sidelined, Cam Spencer, Vince Williams, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Jahmai Mashack are candidates for increased playing time.

  The Grizzlies announced Monday that Jerome (calf) will be re-evaluated in four weeks. Jerome has been diagnosed with a high-grade calf strain, which will delay the start of his season. The 28-year-old guard will likely be sidelined until at least mid-November. With Scotty Pippen (toe) also beginning the year injured, it looks like the backup point guard job will belong to either Javon Small or Cam Spencer early on.

Jerome sustained a right calf injury during Friday's preseason matchup against the Heat and exited after logging just four minutes. The guard, who signed a three-year deal with the Grizzlies this offseason, will have his health closely monitored heading into the regular season, given Ja Morant (ankle) is still ramping up and Scotty Pippen (toe) is sidelined for three months.

Jerome tweaked his right calf early in the first quarter and will end his evening with two rebounds, two assists, one steal and two turnovers over four minutes. The Grizzlies open their season Tuesday against the Pelicans, and for now, Jerome should be considered questionable for that game.
