76ers' Jaylen Brown: Learning new system in Philly
Brown stated Thursday that he's in the process of learning an entire new system in Philadelphia, Chris Hine of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Brown noted that he's been grateful for his teammate Tyrese Maxey during the install, as Maxey has reportedly been an excellent communicator and leader to start camp, per Austin Krell of OnPattison.com. The 29-year-old will have a few more weeks to get used to this new system before the 76ers open the 2026-27 season against the Knicks on Oct. 20.

76ers' Adem Bona: Re-evaluation coming up
76ers coach Nick Nurse said Bona (foot) will be re-evaluated in a couple days, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.
Bona has been recovering from a foot sprain he suffered during the offseason. According to Nurse, there's a chance he could be back for a portion of the preseason. Bona is currently penciled in as Joel Embiid's backup for the upcoming season.

Maxey described Caldwell-Pope as "fantastic" Tuesday and highlighted the veteran wing's potential value as an example for younger players such as Justin Edwards. 76ers' VJ Edgecombe: Focused on shooting during offseason
Edgecombe said Monday that he placed an emphasis on improving his shooting during the offseason while also working on his finishing and ball-handling, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.
Edgecombe established himself as a significant part of Philadelphia's rotation as a rookie, but improving his perimeter efficiency was an obvious area of focus heading into his second season. He shot 43.6 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from three across 79 regular-season appearances, and continued development as a shooter could make him an even more effective complement to the 76ers' other high-usage options. While Edgecombe's fantasy outlook is somewhat murkier entering 2026-27 after the 76ers added LeBron James and Jaylen Brown, James doesn't feel like his presence should take away from the youngster's development. "I don't understand why things would change for him," James said of Edgecombe's role.

76ers' Tyrese Maxey: Hyped up by LeBron James
LeBron James said Monday that his relationship with Maxey played a significant role in his decision to sign with the 76ers, Dave McMenamin of ESPN reports.
James said he narrowed his free-agent choices to five teams before ultimately choosing Philadelphia. The 41-year-old described his relationship with Maxey as "really, really great" and said their extensive conversations were a "main deciding factor" in his decision. James previously revealed that Maxey was among the first players to contact him after he informed the Lakers he wouldn't return, with the two sharing a close relationship that extends beyond basketball. The additions of James and Jaylen Brown should reduce Maxey's responsibilities as Philadelphia's primary ballhandler, potentially allowing him to generate more catch-and-shoot opportunities. Simons ended 2025-26 on the shelf with the Bulls due to a fractured wrist, but he's prepping for a significant bench role with his new team. The sharpshooter made a grand total of five starts all of last year, and he's likely to play a similar role in 2026-27 behind VJ Edgecombe and Tyrese Maxey. Simons has never averaged more than four rebounds or one steal in a season and has averaged more than five assists just once, so his style of play remains more conducive to points leagues.

Philon faces plenty of competition for minutes and an uncertain role heading into his rookie campaign, per Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com.
Selected with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, Philon will likely have to impress to take on a steady role after the 76ers added Jaylen Brown, LeBron James, Anfernee Simons, Dean Wade and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (finger) this offseason. Philon will need to prove he can be effective off the ball to see meaningful burn on a nightly basis during his rookie season, as the 76ers have plenty of ball-handlers ahead of him. The 20-year-old's off-ball movement and ability to hit catch-and-shoot threes could play a large part in his playing time, considering the Sixers also have Simons to handle the rock off the bench. Philon will also have to hold his own defensively to stay on the court. He earned All-SEC First Team honors with Alabama in 2025-26, averaging 22.0 points, 5.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals while shooting 50.1 percent from the field and 39.9 percent from beyond the arc in 30.9 minutes per game.

Jones, an NBA champion in each of his first two years in the league, appears to be heading to Philadelphia to compete for a roster spot at training camp.
