Murray produced 15 points (7-19 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds and two assists across 40 minutes during Saturday's 98-93 loss to the Trail Blazers. Zach LaVine's (ankle) absence has forced Murray into a slightly different role, and he's stepped up with decent results despite a slight drop in rebound totals. The Kings are much more effective with Murray at the four, as the move to Precious Achiuwa in this scenario hasn't yielded a positive result. The team will be happy to get LaVine back so they can settle back into their usual rotation.

The five steals and the eight combined stocks were career highs for Murray, although the rest of his production lagged Sunday. The fourth-year forward is still trying to find his footing after missing the first month of the season while recovering from thumb surgery, but in his first five starts of 2025-26, he's averaging 19.8 points, 7.8 boards, 2.6 steals, 2.0 assists, 1.8 threes and 1.6 blocks while seeing a massive 40.0 minutes a contest due to the absence of Domantas Sabonis (knee).

Murray notched 26 points (10-19 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 14 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 44 minutes during Monday's 117-112 overtime win over the Timberwolves. Any doubt about Murray's preparedness following his return was erased Monday night, as he took a huge leadership role in a frontcourt that desperately needed his help. Drew Eubanks has been a disappointment as Domantas Sabonis' (hamstring) fill-in, and although Precious Achiuwa has had some promising moments, Murray's insertion provides the offensive punch the Kings need, accompanied by proficient work under the basket. Murray's 14 rebounds marked his best total since November 10 of last year, when he had an identical total against Phoenix.
