Jon Leuer: Closes curtains on career

Jon Leuer announced Sunday via his personal Instagram account that he has retired from professional basketball. The 31-year-old noted in his post that he's contended with a number of injuries over the past three years, including two that sidelined him throughout the 2019-20 season after he was waived in July shortly after Milwaukee acquired him from Detroit. After taking some time to evaluate his future, Leuer determined it was best to step away from the game rather than attempting a comeback. He'll wrap up an eight-year NBA career with averages of 6.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per game over 377 regular-season appearances between the Bucks, Cavaliers, Grizzlies, Suns and Pistons.

    Jon Leuer: Waived by Bucks

Jon Leuer was waived by Milwaukee on Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.Leuer was acquired by the Bucks in mid-June in a trade that sent Tony Snell and the 30th pick of the 2019 NBA Draft to the Pistons, but he never received an opportunity to take the court with Milwaukee. Leuer averaged 3.8 points and 2.4 rebounds over 41 games a season ago with Detroit.

Pistons' Jon Leuer: Headed to Milwaukee

The Bucks acquired Jon Leuer from the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday in exchange for Tony Snell and the No. 30 overall pick in Thursday's draft, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.Leuer struggled to stay healthy during his last two seasons in Detroit and effectively fell out of the rotation when he was available in 2018-19, averaging just 3.8 points and 2.4 rebounds in 9.8 minutes per contest. His path to playing time will likely become more difficult as he heads to a deeper Milwaukee squad entering his age-30 campaign. Rather than because of any affinity for Leuer, the Bucks' main motivation in the deal was to free up extra salary-cap space by shedding Snell's onerous contract. The financial flexibility should improve the Bucks' chances of re-signing impending free agents Khris Middleton and Malcolm Brogdon.

Pistons' Jon Leuer: Set to start Monday

Jon Leuer will start Monday's game against the Cavaliers in place of Blake Griffin (rest), Keith Langlois of Detroit Pistons.com reports.Leuer hasn't played a second in any of the last three games, and he wasn't even active for a matchup with the Lakers on Friday, but he'll move into the lineup alongside Andre Drummond up front. The Wisconsin product has appeared in only five games since the start of February.

Pistons' Jon Leuer: Inactive for Friday

Jon Leuer is inactive for Friday's game against the Lakers, Rod Beard of The Detroit News reports.Leuer has played in just two of Detroit's previous nine games, so it's unsurprising that he's listed as inactive.

Pistons' Jon Leuer: Absent from injury report

Jon Leuer (knee) appears to have returned to health after he was left off the injury report prior to Friday's game against Chicago.Leuer hasn't taken the court since Feb. 23, but he's no longer on the injury report, which is a good sign. Given his role in the rotation, he may not see much playing time even after getting the green light.

    Pistons' Jon Leuer: Questionable Wednesday

Jon Leuer is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves due to a right knee injury.Leuer is dealing with some fluid build-up in his knee, and the Detroit Pistons will wait until closer to game-time to see if the situation improves. Either way, Leuer hasn't been a regular part of the rotation, and he can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

    Pistons' Jon Leuer: Inactive Monday

Jon Leuer won't be active for Monday's game against Washington, Rod Beard of the Detroit News reports. Not too many fantasy ramifications here, but it looks as though the Detroit Pistons' moves at the deadline won't do much to help Leuer, who's been on the outside looking in for most of the year. Down the stretch, Detroit will continue to lean heavily on Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin, and it looks as though Thon Maker could have the edge over Leuer off the bench. Glenn Robinson III will also be inactive Monday.

Pistons' Jon Leuer: Upgraded to probable

Jon Leuer (illness) has been upgraded to probable for Saturday's tilt with the Kings, Vincent Ellis of the Detroit Free Press reports.Leuer has missed the past two games with an illness, but looks to be ready to return to the lineup Saturday. Assuming he's able to play, the veteran forward should slot back into his normal role that's seen him average 4.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in 11.1 minutes per game on the season.

Pistons' Jon Leuer: Out with illness

Jon Leuer is listed as out for Friday's game against the Heat due to an illness. The specifics of Leuer's illness are unknown at this time, but his absence shouldn't have too large of an impact on the team's rotation. Stanley Johnson or Zaza Pachulia could see more run in the frontcourt with Leuer out, however.
