Cartier Martin: Signs contract with D-League team
Cartier Martin agreed to a contract Friday with the D-League's Iowa Energy, international basketball writer David Pick reports.After getting waived by the Pistons in training camp last fall, Martin spent the entire 2015-16 campaign with the Energy, averaging 20.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. The 31-year-old is a veteran of 243 NBA games and could earn a promotion back to the game's highest level later this season when injuries inevitably take their toll on backcourts across the league.

Cartier Martin was waived by the Pistons on Friday.Martin appeared in only 23 games last season, averaging 1.6 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists in just under nine minutes per game. The Pistons also waived Jordan Bachynski and Adonis Thomas on Friday, meaning they'll have to make one more subtraction before the start of the regular season.
