Darren Collison announced Friday via a personal essay posted on The Undefeated that he intends to retire from professional basketball and focus his efforts on aiding the less fortunate through his Jehovah's Witnesses faith.This decision is relatively surprising, as Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN relays that the 31-yearpold point guard was set to fetch an estimated 10-to-$12 million annual salary as a free agent this summer. Collison opened his career with the Hornets in 2009-10 and has gone on to suit up with the Mavericks, Clippers, Kings and Indiana Pacers over his 708 career games. Assuming he stays committed to retiring, he'll walk away with averages of 12.5 points, 5.0 assists and 1.2 steals across 29.4 minutes per game.
