    Greivis Vasquez: Released by Brooklyn

Greivis Vasquez (ankle) was released Wednesday by the Nets, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.Vasquez has been held out of the last four games with a right ankle injury, and it's now come to the light that the 29-year-old will require surgery. It's the same ankle that also required a procedure last December, ultimately limiting him to just 23 games with the Bucks in 2015-16. With his long-term future clouded, the Nets will part ways with Vasquez and replace him with rookie Yogi Ferrell, who will help restore some depth at point guard with Jeremy Lin (hamstring) and Caris LeVert (foot) likely to miss several more games.

Nets' Greivis Vasquez: Ruled out Tuesday

Greivis Vasquez (ankle) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Timberwolves.Vasquez continues to recover from his ankle injury, and with the Brooklyn Nets playing right away again Wednesday, he is in danger of missing more action. With Vasquez, Jeremy Lin (hamstring) and Caris LeVert (foot) all out Tuesday, Isaiah Whitehead and Sean Kilpatrick -- and possibly Randy Foye -- are in line to handle the point guard duties for the Nets.

Nets' Greivis Vasquez: Will not play Wednesday

Greivis Vasquez (ankle) will not play in Friday's game against the Hornets, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.Vasquez's absence puts the Brooklyn Nets down two point guards with Jeremy Lin (hamstring) expected to be sidelined for two weeks. There is still no exact timetable for Vasquez to return as he is bothered by the same ankle that he had surgery on nearly a near ago, but Isaiah Whitehead, Sean Kilpatrick and Randy Foye would all be in line to see extended run as primary ball handlers in the backcourt for as long as both Lin and Vasquez are out.

Nets' Greivis Vasquez: Won't play Wednesday

Greivis Vasquez (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Pistons.Vasquez will remain on the sideline for a second straight game and could be in store for more absences given that he's bothered by the same ankle that required surgery last December. Isaiah Whitehead is expected to serve as the main backup to starting point guard Jeremy Lin while Vasquez is out.

Nets' Greivis Vasquez: Won't play Monday

Greivis Vasquez (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Bulls, Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders reports.Vasquez left Saturday's game against the Bucks with a sore right ankle and didn't return. Given that he missed most of last season after requiring surgery on that same ankle, it's possible that Vasquez is dealing with a setback that could keep him sidelined for a little while. Until the Brooklyn Nets offer up a different timetable, Vasquez should be viewed as day-to-day heading into Wednesday's game against the Pistons. With the Nets now thin on point-guard depth behind Jeremy Lin, we could see Sean Kilpatrick to help take on some of the ball-handling duties for the second unit if rookie Isaiah Whitehead isn't up to the task.

Nets' Greivis Vasquez: Leaves with sore ankle

Greivis Vasquez left Saturday's game against the Bucks with a sore right ankle and will not return.Vasquez departed after scoring two points (1-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt) with a rebound in seven minutes. He's listed as day-to-day heading into Monday's game against Chicago.

Nets' Greivis Vasquez: Goes scoreless, but hands out six dimes

Greivis Vasquez tallied no points (0-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt), but recorded six assists and two rebounds across 17 minutes in Tuesday's 121-100 preseason loss to the Heat.Vasquez is still trying to get his legs under him after he was held out for most of last season while recovering from bone spur surgery on his right ankle, and has seen his minutes expand in each successive preseason game. However, the 29-year-old's shooting has been disastrous, as he now sits on a collective 1-for-11 mark from the field and 0-for-7 mark from three-point range through three contests. With his main competition for the top backup job at point guard, rookie Isaiah Whitehead, going 1-for-8 from the field Tuesday, Vasquez still appears in good position to open the regular season in a rotation spot, but his awful preseason may result in coach Kenny Atkinson leaning more heavily on starter Jeremy Lin than expected.

Nets' Greivis Vasquez: Available to play Thursday

Greivis Vasquez (ankle) will be available to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Pistons, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports. It's unclear if Vasquez will actually see a significant amount of time on the court, so he's still a player to avoid in DFS situations. However, he was able to log a full practice this past Friday and hasn't suffered any setbacks early this week, so Vasquez should have the option to make a return to the court. Once the regular season is here, Vasquez is expected to open the season as the team's No. 2 point guard behind Jeremy Lin.

Nets' Greivis Vasquez: Gets in full practice Friday

Greivis Vasquez (ankle) was able to get in a full practice Friday, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports. After being limited for the first few days of camp while he continued to recover from his December bone spur surgery, Vasquez said he felt "great" after his first full session of practice. The Brooklyn Nets could give the veteran a few days off throughout camp, but Vasquez looks poised to enter the regular season as the top backup behind starting point guard Jeremy Lin, though he'll have to fight with Isaiah Whitehead and Randy Foye for those duties.

Nets' Greivis Vasquez: Still rehabbing ankle

Greivis Vasquez remains in the rehab process with his right ankle, for which he required bone spur surgery back in mid-December, Brooklyn Nets Daily reports.Vasquez made a few appearances for the Bucks last spring after returning from surgery, but he's apparently still not quite 100 percent healthy, as the ankle issue prevented him from suiting up for Venezuela in the 2016 Summer Olympics. The 29-year-old was able to land a one-year deal from the Nets in free agency, but the rebuilding team signed him with the understanding that he may need some extra recovery time. Expect Vasquez to see his activities limited during camp, which could prevent him from claiming the top backup job at point guard when the regular season opens.
