Alex Abrines revealed over the weekend that he expects to remain a free agent for the remainder of the season rather than signing with another NBA or European team, Antonis Stroggylakis of the Eurohoops.net reports.Abrines was waived by the Thunder on Feb. 8 after an unspecified personal matter had kept him away from the team for much of the month and a half prior to his dismissal. The Spaniard said he expects to make a statement regarding his situation in the near future, but it doesn't look like he'll pursue employment elsewhere until this summer. Alex Abrines: Waived by OKC

Alex Abrines has been waived by the Thunder, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.Abrines had appeared in just two of the past 22 games for the Thunder, who cut ties with the third-year guard Saturday. Once Abrines clears waivers, he'll be free to sign with any team and may be pursued due to his floor-stretching ability. In 31 appearances this year, Abrines averaged 5.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.3 threes in 19.0 minutes while shooting an abysmal 35.7 percent from the floor in addition to splits of 32.2 percent from three and 92.3 percent from the line.

Thunder's Alex Abrines: Not set to play Thursday

Alex Abrines (personal) is listed as out for Thursday's game against the Grizzlies.Abrines will miss his second game in a row due to the personal matter, which had previously kept him unavailable nearly all of January. There's a real possibility that Abrines' status could regularly be in limbo on a game-by-game basis for the rest of the season, so don't be surprised if the Oklahoma City Thunder look to add another three-point specialist for the second unit prior to Thursday's trade deadline or via the buyout market.

Thunder's Alex Abrines: Sits again for personal matter

Alex Abrines (personal) was active for Tuesday's 132-122 win over the Magic, despite not being in the arena when the contest tipped off, Erik Horne of The Oklahoman reports.Abrines had previously been unavailable for the Oklahoma City Thunder's final four games of December and most of January while tending to the undisclosed personal matter. After rejoining the team and getting in sufficient practice time, Abrines re-entered the rotation for games Jan. 29 and Feb. 1, but has since been withheld from action for the past two contests. It's beginning to look like recurring absences could be on the docket for Abrines throughout the remainder of the season.

Thunder's Alex Abrines: Logs first appearance since Dec. 23

Alex Abrines (personal) played six minutes off the bench Tuesday in the Oklahoma City Thunder's 126-117 win over the Magic, chipping in three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and one rebound.Abrines hadn't played since Dec. 23 while tending to a personal matter before coach Billy Donovan finally incorporated the third-year wing in the rotation Wednesday. Unsurprisingly, Abrines was eased back into the mix with a minor role, but he could recapture minutes in the teens in future contests. With averages of 5.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.4 triples in 19.3 minutes per game on the season, Abrines doesn't offer much value in fantasy settings as anything more than a three-point streamer.
