Cavaliers' Dahntay Jones: Signs with Cleveland

Dahntay Jones signed a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday, Chris Haynes of ESPN.com reports. For the second year in a row, the Cavaliers will fill an open roster spot in the final week of the regular season by signing Jones, who was previously cut by the team in training camp in favor of DeAndre Liggins. Ironically, it was Liggins who was cut days earlier to clear up the roster spot for Jones, a 36-year-old veteran who will provide the team with some additional depth on the wing. Jones figures to see some run in the regular-season finale Wednesday against the Raptors, but don't expect him to be a fixture in the rotation during the Cavs' playoff run.

    Dahntay Jones: Waived by Cavs

Dahntay Jones was waived by the Cavaliers on Monday, Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com reports. The Cavaliers were essentially deciding between keeping Jones or DeAndre Liggins, and they've apparently opted to go with the younger option of the two. From a chemistry and experience standpoint, Jones was an important piece of the Cavs' championship roster last season, but his best days as a player are well behind him, so the decision to keep Liggins probably makes the most basketball sense. Jones turns 36 in December and could opt for retirement if he doesn't receive interest from another contending team.

Cavaliers' Dahntay Jones: Starts at shooting guard Monday

Dahntay Jones is in the starting lineup for Monday's preseason matchup with the Hawks. The Cleveland Cavaliers are resting their regular starting lineup, so they've opted to start Jones, Kay Felder, James Jones, Cory Jefferson and Jordan McRae. However, once the regular season is here, Jones isn't expected to be a regular contributor and may not even make the final roster, as he's currently battling for the 15th spot on the roster. With that said, he could see extended minutes Monday against the Hawks.

Cavaliers' Dahntay Jones: Re-ups with Cleveland on non-guaranteed deal

Dahntay Jones agreed Thursday to re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers on a non-guaranteed contract, Joe Vardon of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. After playing 42 minutes in a meaningless regular season finale for the Cavaliers just one day after signing with the team, Jones went largely unused off the bench during the team's postseason run. However, he played a pivotal role in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, scoring five unanswered points in the last 90 seconds of the first half and drawing two crucial fouls on the Warriors' Draymond Green in an eventual Cavs win. Jones was waived earlier in the offseason before his contract became guaranteed for 2016-17, and his new non-guaranteed deal means that he's far from a safe bet to open the upcoming campaign with the team. The 35-year-old will likely have to battle Eric Moreland, John Holland, Cory Jefferson, Markel Brown and DeAndre Liggins for the 15th spot on the roster.

    Dahntay Jones: Waived by Cavaliers

Dahntay Jones was waived by the Cavaliers on Saturday, ESPN.com reports.Jones' salary for the 2016-17 season was set to become fully guaranteed Monday, so the Cavaliers opted to release him to increase their roster flexibility for the future. The two sides reportedly do have some mutual interest to bring Jones back into the fold, but we'll likely have to wait at least a few weeks for the Cavaliers to evaluate their other options. Jones saw action in just one regular season game this past year, so he'd likely return as a veteran bench presence again in a similar role.

Cavaliers' Dahntay Jones: Doesn't play in Game 7 loss

Dahntay Jones (coach's decision) didn't see the floor in Sunday's 93-89 Game 7 win over the Warriors.Sunday marked the first game of the series that wasn't decided by more than 11 points, so there were no garbage time minutes to be had for Jones and the Cavs' bench mob. That's probably not an issue for the 35-year-old, who will now come away with his first NBA title after having only played one regular-season game with the Cavs.

Cavaliers' Dahntay Jones: Suspended one game for striking Bismack Biyombo in the groin

Dahntay Jones has been suspended for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals after striking Raptors' center Bismack Biyombo in the groin.Jones has played 2.9 minutes per game in the 2016 postseason, making him a rough DFS choice. He has averaged 1.0 points, and 0.3 rebounds per game in that time span. Jones' suspension will only truly effect the Cleveland Cavaliers depth at shooting guard.

Cavaliers' Dahntay Jones: Hits three-pointer in record-setting Game 2 win

Dahntay Jones scored three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and grabbed a rebound in six minutes during Wednesday's 123-98 Game 2 win over the Hawks.Jones hit his lone three-point attempt with 2:24 left in the fourth quarter, establishing a new single-game postseason record by knocking down the Cavs' 24th three-point of the evening. The Cavs did most of their damage from deep in the first half with 18 three-pointers, which allowed Jones to pick up some rare run in garbage time. He's not expected to be a part of the rotation during the postseason when games are more competitive.

Cavaliers' Dahntay Jones: Receives heavy workload in OT loss Wednesday

Dahntay Jones scored 13 points (6-14 FG, 1-2 3Pt) to go with five rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and a steal over 42 minutes in a 112-110 loss to the Pistons on Wednesday.Jones, a 35-year-old journeyman, was inked to a contract earlier in the day after spending the season in the D-League. While Jones was likely signed as a precautionary measure (Iman Shumpert is currently sidelined with a knee injury), the veteran of eight teams logged a heavy workload in Wednesday's game, providing Cleveland's starters with a rest before the playoffs. Jones should have a minimal role in Cleveland's playoff rotation.

Cavaliers' Dahntay Jones: Has been signed

Dahntay Jones signed a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday that will run through the end of the 2015-16 season, Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. After being waived by the Nets out of training camp in October, Jones landed with the D-League's Grand Rapids Drive and has been playing on the circuit all season, averaging 15.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 36 minutes over 43 games. Jones, a first-round pick in 2003, will be available for Wednesday's regular season finale against the Pistons, and could immediately pick up some minutes with LeBron James, Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, and J.R. Smith all being held out for rest and Mo Williams and Iman Shumpert sitting out with knee injuries. The 35-year-old will remain with the Cavs through their postseason run, but isn't likely to serve as much more than emergency depth.
