Ryan Gomes has accepted a position Tuesday as an assistant coach for the D-League's Long Island Nets.Gomes attempted to latch on in the D-League last season in an attempt to jumpstart his stagnant career, but his decision to enter the coaching ranks likely signals that his playing days are over. The power forward played 482 games over eight seasons in the league with the Celtics, Timberwolves, Clippers and Thunder, posting career averages of 10.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 27.9 minutes per game.

Ryan Gomes: Signs on with D-League
Ryan Gomes signed on to play in the D-League on Tuesday, Chris Reichert of UpsideMotor.com reports.Gomes is likely joining the D-League as a means of keeping his hope of returning to the NBA alive. The 33-year-old, who was a former second-round pick of the Celtics in 2005, last appeared in the league during the 2013-14 campaign with the Thunder.
