Danny Granger (knee) was officially waived by the Pistons on Monday, Dave Pemberton of the Oakland Press reports.Granger was acquired from Phoenix as part of the Marcus Morris deal this summer, and the Pistons will now eat his $2.2 million guaranteed salary for this season. The 32-year-old Granger has been away from the team throughout camp while recovering from multiple knee surgeries, and this could be the unfortunate end of the line for the former All-Star, who appeared in only 30 games for Miami last season.

Former standout Danny Granger will almost certainly be waived by the Detroit Pistons before the regular season begins on Tuesday, per the team website.Granger wasn't able to play at all this preseason as he has been rehabbing after undergoing a second knee surgery last summer. The former All-Star has evolved into an NBA journeyman late in his career, having stints with four teams in the past two seasons. Granger could never bounce back to full form after missing all but five games in the 2012-13 season to injury.

Pistons SF Danny Granger to remain in Arizona to rehab knee
Detroit Pistons forward Danny Granger (knee) isn't ready to participate in basketball activities during the Pistons' training camp, MLive.com's David Mayo reports. Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said that Granger would continue to remain at his home in Phoenix, where he'll take part in rehab work on his own. Van Gundy didn't issue a timeline for the former All-Star's return to camp, but if Granger shows progress quickly in his rehab, he could join the Pistons at any point thereafter.

With Phoenix Suns forward Danny Granger possessing a player option in his contract for next season, he said Wednesday that he has not decided if he will use the option, reports The Arizona Republic. Report: Suns hesitant to use Danny Granger this season
Forward Danny Granger could join the Phoenix Suns later this season, according to the Arizona Republic. The Suns acquired Granger from Miami roughly two weeks ago at the trade deadline. However, with three other small forwards on the current roster (P.J. Tucker, Marcus Morris and T.J. Warren), the Suns are hesitant to use Granger this season, and want him to work with their athletic trainers to improve his health for next season. The 31-year-old has a $2.1 million player option for next season.

Heat acquire Suns G Goran Dragic in three-team trade
The Miami Heat have finalized a deal to acquire embattled Phoenix Suns guard Goran Dragic in a multiteam just moments before Thursday's trade deadline, Marc Stein of ESPN reports. The trade also includes the New Orleans Pelicans, according to the Sun Sentinel. The teams announced the trade Thursday night. Miami shipped Danny Granger and two future first-round picks, a top-seven protected 2017 first-round pick and an unprotected 2021 first-round pick, to Phoenix. Goran's brother, Zoran Dragic, was also included in the deal and will head to Miami. The Pelicans received Norris Cole and Shawne Williams from Miami, and shipped John Salmons to Phoenix. Dragic was on the trading block for the last week after he told reporters he didn't trust the Suns' front office heading into free agency at the end of the season. Miami was on the list of Dragic's preferred destinations (Knicks, Lakers) prior to the deadline, and the deal was made with the belief that he'll sign a contract extension with Miami in July, per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. The 28-year-old posted career-best numbers in points per game (20.3) and field goal percentage (50.5) last season. This season, he is averaging 12 points, 4.5 assists and 2.2 turnovers per game while shooting 50.1 percent from the field in 52 games. According to the Palm Beach Post, Dragic's 35.5 percent accuracy from 3-point range is down from 40.8 last year, but would rank fifth on Miami's roster. Cole will be a free agent this offseason and wasn't expected to return to Miami before the deal was made, per the Associated Press. Meanwhile, New Orleans and Williams are expected to reach an agreement on a contract buyout, per Wojnarowski.

Heat rule Luol Deng out of Sunday's game at Boston
Miami Heat forward Luol Deng has been ruled out of Sunday's game at Boston. It will be the third straight game Deng has missed while dealing with a calf injury. Coach Erik Spoelstra said Deng was close to returning, but has to be 100 percent before he returns. Forwards Danny Granger and James Ennis are expected to see an increased role. The Heat are 3 1/2-point underdogs.
