Dynasty Fantasy Football is supposed to be about the long game. The managers that play it are supposed to be less reactionary than redraft managers. With all the injuries and unexpected happenings the first two weeks of the season, that has been difficult for even the most seasoned managers. And when you take a look at my Dynasty rankings for each position you will see some big movers. Two of the biggest since summer are Carson Steele and J.K. Dobbins.
Steele is now the presumed lead back for the Kansas City Chiefs with Isiah Pacheco out for at least the next six weeks. While we expect this to be more of a committee than it was when Pacheco was healthy, Steele's value, which was almost nothing three months ago has soared. If you need a flex this week, it's fantastic news, but it presents a unique opportunity for teams that don't need to start Steele this week, a quick profit. If Steele is going to be stuck on your bench I would see if a contender would pay a late second-round pick for him. Even if you could use your third to move up a round in next year's draft it would be a big profit on the waiver wire pickup.
Math is more difficult for J.K Dobbins. While you could get more for Dobbins in trade, he also possesses league-winning upside if he stays healthy all year. He's the most efficient running back in NFL history and he's been even more efficient this season. He's also the Chargers passing downs back with Gus Edwards handling some of the early downs work. I traded a 4th for Dobbins last year after his injury and I wouldn't take a second today, not if I view myself as a contender. I'd be more likely to buy high for a second than I would be to deal Dobbins away.
Moving in the other direction was Bryce Young. He looked miserable to start the season and it is understandable if you're ready to punt him to the curb even in Superflex. I'm more likely to hold onto him than sell him for a big loss, but I expect this offense to look better with Andy Dalton and that's not going to help Young's value. If you could get a projected early second or a low-end veteran starter, I would completely understand you taking it.
