The 49ers placed Kendricks (toe) on injured reserve Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Kendricks is dealing with a toe injury picked up during Sunday's preseason contest against the Chargers, and which coach Kyle Shanahan said would likely sideline him for at least a month. However, the timing of Kendricks' placement on IR makes him ineligible to return this season, unless he reaches an injury settlement and parts ways with the 49ers.
