Tanney was waived by the Giants on Saturday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Tanney, who spent a bit of time on the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier in August, didn't really stand a chance at earning a roster spot after the team decided to sign veteran Colt McCoy. It's unclear whether Tanney will have a practice squad spot afforded to him should he pass through waivers.
