Dalton is expected to start in place of Justin Fields (ribs) on Thursday at Detroit, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Dalton stepped in for Fields after the rookie injured his ribs in the third quarter of Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Ravens, completing 11 of 23 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Both scores were big gainers, as Darnell Mooney took a screen pass 60 yards to the house, while Marquise Goodwin burned the Baltimore secondary for a 49-yard strike. Without those plays, Dalton's stat line would have been a more understated 9-for-21 for 92 yards, but he'll fortunately have the Lions' 30th-ranked scoring defense on the other side Thursday as he gets a spot start in place of Fields.
