Dalton was diagnosed with a bone bruise in his left knee after undergoing an MRI on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The Bears already have declared that Dalton will remain the starter, if healthy, but even though the nature of the veteran signal-caller's injury has been revealed, his recovery timetable remains undisclosed. If he's cleared to suit up Week 3 without missing any time, he'll lead Chicago's offense in Cleveland on Sunday. On the other hand, if Dalton needs time on the sideline to get healthy, Justin Fields will stand to make his first NFL start while Nick Foles handles backup duties.
