Allen completed 18 of 23 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns while rushing nine times for 39 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 34-28 win over the Cardinals. He also lost a fumble.

After losing a fumble on Buffalo's first drive, Allen had a would-be four-yard rushing touchdown erased by an offensive facemask penalty in the second quarter but scored one that counted from seven yards out in the final minute of the first half. He then threw 11-yard touchdown passes to Mack Hollins and Khalil Shakir in the third quarter to give the Bills their first lead of the season before extending the advantage with a six-yard rushing score in the fourth. Allen had his left hand/wrist looked at in the fourth quarter, per Ryan O'Halloran of The Buffalo News, but he stayed in the game and looked no worse for wear. One day after the daughter of the Bills team owners, Jessica Pegula, lost in the U.S. Open final, Allen gave the family something to celebrate, leading the Bills to a 1-0 record heading into Thursday's game in Miami.
