Coach Sean McDermott said Monday that Allen and the starters will not suit up for Saturday's preseason finale against the Panthers, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Allen also sat out last weekend's 9-3 exhibition win over the Steelers, though McDermott initially said the plan for that game was for starters to play a quarter and a half. Now, McDermott says plans have changed due to team-wide injury considerations. Allen remains at 100 percent form and has avoided injuries throughout training camp, but wide receiver Curtis Samuel (turf toe) is considered week-to-week, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling (neck) could miss multiple weeks, so it makes sense for Buffalo to prioritize health at this stage.
