Washington released Maher from the practice squad Wednesday, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.
Maher spent most of September on Washington's practice squad, but he'll now need to search for a reserve role with another club. He appeared in 29 games with the Cowboys from 2018 to 2019.
