Browns' Deshaun Watson: Was medically cleared for Week 4
Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that Watson (shoulder) was medically cleared in advance Sunday's 28-3 loss to the Ravens, but the quarterback wasn't comfortable playing through the injury, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
Rookie backup quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson ended up getting the start in place of Watson and struggled to move the offense throughout the day. Stefanski backed up his medical staff's assessment of Watson's shoulder while also acknowledging that the signal-caller knows his body. All signs pointed to the team believing Watson would be available, and the impression is that the Browns were caught off guard by Watson's decision. Stefanski said following Sunday's loss that the quarterback should be ready to go Week 6 against San Francisco following the team's bye week.
