Emerson is in concussion protocol following Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Raiders, per coach Kevin Stefanski, Kelsey Russo of the Browns' official site reports.
Emerson was evaluated for a head injury after the game, and the tests revealed a concussion. He will need to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in order to play against the Commanders in Week 5. Mike Ford and Cameron Mitchell are options to start opposite Denzel Ward if Emerson misses time, or nickel cornerback Greg Newsome could shift outside.
