Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston was 14 for 21 for 207 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-19 victory over the Saints. He also had a rushing touchdown and 23 yards on six carries.
Winston's encore performance was significantly better than his debut effort in Week 1, and resulted in his first victory as a pro. The top overall pick looked considerably more assured in the pocket and did a nice job distributing the ball to a cadre of receivers and running backs. Winston did target returning receiver Mike Evans on three occasions but none of the looks resulted in a completion.
However, he did make good use of third receiver Louis Murphy and starting wideout Vincent Jackson, targeting the duo a total of nine times on the afternoon. Week 1 standout Austin Seferian-Jenkins and the Bucs' running back trio of Doug Martin, Charles Sims and Bobby Rainey were also recipients of Winston's passes on Sunday, serving as valuable check-down options when called upon. Winston's next test comes in a road tilt against the Texans in Week 3.
