The Buccaneers announced Wednesday they reached an agreement with kicker Connor Barth, who is out for the season after suffering a torn Achilles in a charity basketball game in July, to be paid his 2013 salary and keep the final two years of his contract in place.
"We don't have to do anything because it was a non-football injury, so you don't have to pay a penny. But we just felt like as an organization, through the process, it was the right thing to do," general manager Mark Dominik said. "We have a lot of respect for Connor. We really like him as a person and as a player, both. He's been a good Buccaneer. We set up his contract to give him every opportunity to earn his final two years and still [be] with the club next year. We figured it all out, we worked it all out and I think both sides are happy."
