Mahomes completed eight of 14 passes for 93 yards against Detroit on Saturday.

Mahomes played the first two drives of the preseason game, with most of the Chiefs first-string offense playing with him. The absence of Marquise Brown (shoulder) allowed Mahomes to work extensively with first-round pick rookie Xavier Worthy, who drew five of Mahomes' targets (though Worthy's 22-yard touchdown would come with Carson Wentz at quarterback). Mahomes even made waves by completing a behind-the-back screen pass to Travis Kelce for eight yards. Mahomes is likely the top player in the NFL and doesn't need new tricks to dominate, but he's apparently been working on some anyway.
