Ayers was signed by the Colts on Tuesday, Adam Caplan of ESPN.com reports.
Ayers was cut by the Rams on Saturday after playing all 16 games last season, recording 47 tackles and 0.5 sacks. The Colts' starting linebackers are in flux for Week 1, so Ayers could play a role off the bench, granted he can learn the playbook in time. As the season progresses, look for him to compete with fellow veterans Robert Mathis and Trent Cole for reps.
