Payne (foot) was placed on injured reserve by the Commanders on Tuesday, Tashan Reed of The Washington Post reports.
Payne suffered a season-ending Jones fracture in his left foot during practice last week. His transition to injured reserve comes as no surprise, and in Payne's absence, Tim Settle will operate as the team's primary nose tackle moving forward.
