The Commanders signed Hartman to the active roster Saturday.
The move corresponds with Marcus Mariota (chest) landing on injured reserve. With Mariota sidelined for at least the first four games of the regular season, Hartman will serve as the third-string quarterback behind starter Jayden Daniels and newly acquired backup Jeff Driskel.
