The Commanders released Everett (personal) on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
With the combination of Washington's need to shed salary cap after the acquisition of Wentz and Everett's offseason legal issues, this transaction was inevitable. A resolution on whether the 29-year-old safety will be able to resume his football career may not come for several months, so his status for 2022 is certainly in question.
