Gore has yet to formally announce his retirement from the NFL, but the 38-year-old told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network that he's been training for both football and boxing.
Gore said that boxing has always been a passion, and training for the ring may be the bigger focus for him at this point than football, as Rapoport notes that a high-profile fight could be in the works for the veteran running back. The NFL's third-leading all-time rusher hasn't completely closed the door on football, but Rapoport notes that Gore has thus far declined all inquiries from teams since he became a free agent this spring. Before missing the Jets' final two games of 2020 with a lung contusion, Gore played in 14 contests and tallied 653 yards and two touchdowns on 187 carries, which translated to a career-worst 3.5 yards per tote.
