Winn was released from the Lions' practice squad on Friday.
Winn was likely Detroit's fourth or fifth option at running back and wasn't likely to be promoted to the active roster unless injuries forced the team to do so. His release cleared the way for the team to sign offensive lineman Chase Farris to the practice squad.
