Singletary carried the ball 10 times for 20 yards and a touchdown and failed to catch his only target in Saturday's 28-10 preseason loss to the Texans.

The Giants' first-team offense played the entire first half, but Singletary wasn't able to gain much yardage against a stout Texans front seven. The veteran back did manage to punch in a one-yard touchdown in the second quarter, however. He's set to begin the season as the Giants' top option in the backfield, and with rookie Tyrone Tracy (ankle) potentially on the shelf for Week 1, Singletary could wind up seeing more work as a receiver than anticipated early in the year. His experience in Brian Daboll's scheme -- Daboll was Singletary's offensive coordinator for three seasons in Buffalo -- should allow him to hit the ground running with his new team after he amassed 1,091 scrimmage yards over 17 regular-season games for Houston in 2023.
