Newsome (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans.
Newsome entered the league's concussion protocol during the Giants' Week 6 loss to the Saints, and he was held out of practice all week. The Giants are thin in the secondary, so one of Colton Hood or Nic Jones figure to start opposite Deonte Banks at outside cornerback. New York is on a bye for Week 8, so Newsome's next chance to play is Week 9 against Philadelphia on Sunday, Nov. 8.
