The first week of the college season went rather smoothly in terms of injuries across the nation. Most of the country's top Fantasy talent made it through Week 1 unscathed. Such wasn't the case in Week 2.

Another top Fantasy running back's season is over as Kent State's Eugene Jarvis suffered a kidney injury against Boston College. Scads of other players left their respective games early in Week 2 and are now question marks for Week 3's slate of games. Those players are listed below:

Quarterbacks

Riley Dodge, North Texas: After two games this season the prototypical coaches' son QB has done a fairly solid job as the Mean Green signal caller. Dodge is 35 of 53 on the year for 333 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. However, with a Week 3 game at No. 4 Alabama on the horizon, it appears Dodge could be MIA after he was injured in a double-overtime loss to Ohio in Week 2. Sacked by a big man, Dodge has a bad shoulder injury. "My range of motion is getting there," Dodge told the Denton Record-Chronicle. "I feel like I could play, but I would rather be ready for Middle Tennessee and conference." That's right, folks, Dodge has decided to sit Week 3 out. North Texas will instead turn to Nathan Tune for the start. Fantasy owners, however, should not. Status: Out

Cody Hawkins, Colorado: The Buffaloes signal caller, owned in 6 percent of leagues, suffered a mild concussion during Week 2 and could not return to the game at Toledo. Hawkins has been fairly solid this season for the Buffs with 578 yards passing in two games and six total touchdowns. His four interceptions hurt his value, however. Head coach and father Don Hawkins said Cody is feeling better and both have claimed he's ready to start in Week 3's game against Wyoming. He should be fine for Week 3 and now is the time to start him as Colorado plays at West Virginia, at Texas and at home against Kansas over the following three weeks. Status: Probable

Running Backs

Kendall Hunter, Oklahoma State: It wasn't a pretty sight to see the Cowboy's top tailback being helped off the field during Week 2's game against Houston. Hunter suffered a pretty bad ankle injury and is not likely to play in Week 3's game against Rice, said coach Mike Gundy. Hunter is owned in 92 percent of leagues but has struggled in terms of Fantasy play this season with just 104 yards and one touchdown on 32 carries. The Cowboys have spread the wealth of carries between Hunter, Keith Toston and Beau Johnson, as well as QB Zac Robinson, and Toston has thus far seen the best numbers with 121 yards on 21 carries and a score. Toston will get the nod as the starter if Hunter can't play and that would elevate his Fantasy value to that of a one-week sleeper against a Rice defense that isn't exactly limiting running games thus far this season. Status: Doubtful

Jacquizz Rodgers, Oregon State: Two games into his season, Rodgers is right on schedule as he's averaging well over 100 yards per game with 269 yards on the ground and four touchdowns in two games this season. Rodgers is generally a must-start Fantasy RB so it isn't good news that he tweaked his ankle Week 2 and could not practice early on in preparation for Week 3 against No. 17 Cincinnati. Never fear, Rodgers is expected to play in the game and be just fine as his absence from practice was just a precaution to make sure he's completely healthy for the big game Saturday. Status: Probable

Matt Asiata, Utah: Utah meets Oregon in a Week 3 battle and the Ducks haven't been very good at stopping the run this season. That makes Asiata's shoulder injury an intriguing storyline for Fantasy owners. Asiata has rushed for 250 yards and three scores in two games and is owned in 37 percent of Fantasy leagues but he is a big question mark for Saturday's game. The Utes are already making other plans and junior Eddie Wide got a big endorsement from coach Kyle Whittingham that he is more than capable of ripping big yardage in Asiata's stead. If Asiata can't go, Wide is not a bad replacement option off the walk-on list. Status: Questionable

Curtis Steele, Middle Tennessee State: Owned in 20 percent of leagues, Steele looked very good in a Week 1 loss to a tough defensive Ole Miss team as he rushed for 90 yards and scored two touchdowns. However, after amassing 29 yards and a score on five carries in Week 2 against Middle Tennessee State, Steele injured his knee and is expected to miss 2-3 weeks. T.J. Pitts, who rushed nine times for 40 yards in Steele's place last Saturday, will get the start Week 3 against Tennessee-Martin. With Martin being an FCS school, it is safe to keep all Memphis running backs on your bench or on waivers. Status: Out

Caleb King, Georgia: With SEC play beginning on Saturday against Arkansas, the Bulldogs would love to get their No. 1 RB option back into the fold. King has missed both games this season as he recovers from a hamstring injury and Richard Samuels hasn't exactly been amazing in his stead. Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said Tuesday that King is practicing and is looking much better than the previous week. There is still a chance he'll need to miss a third straight game but he is making definite progress. Arkansas is allowing 82 yards per game on the ground this season and King, owned in 19 percent of leagues, would be a solid play against them, if healthy. He's worth monitoring over the coming days leading up to Saturday. Status: Questionable

Wide Receivers

Julio Jones, Alabama: Yes, Jones, owned in 83 percent of leagues, has been a major disappointment thus far this season with just five catches for 55 yards. Heading into a Week 3 game against North Texas, Saturday would be ripe for a breakout game ... if he wasn't dealing with a knee injury suffered Week 2 against FIU, that is. Coach Nick Saban keeps calling him day to day but he could not practice on Wednesday for the Tide and that has us thinking this injury could linger and keep him out or limited against the Mean Green. No doubt, you've been frustrated by him already this year, go ahead and keep him inactive for Week 3. Status: Questionable

Dexter McCluster, Ole Miss: The stars were shining on Mississippi last week as the Rebels had almost half their team missing due a flu which resembled the H1N1 virus. As luck would have it, Ole Miss was idle during Week 2 and didn't have to take the field severely undermanned. No sick player would have been missed more than McCluster, who is the team's most reliable playmaker and owned in 95 percent of Fantasy leagues. McCluster, who totaled 115 yards and two touchdowns Week 1, was sent to the hospital with the flu on Sept. 9 but has since returned to full practice in preparation for Week 3 against S.E. Louisiana. McCluster could be limited, however, because the FCS opponent doesn't pose much of a challenge. His points will be penalized in either case so you might go another way. He will be healthy for the game, though. Status: Probable

Detron Lewis, Texas Tech: Lewis is a big-time Fantasy option for pass-happy Texas Tech and is owned in 90 percent of leagues after making 11 receptions for 169 yards and a score in two games this year. Owners were therefore not happy to see him leave Week 2's win over Rice with a leg injury. Lewis has yet to practice this week for the Red Raiders but the school site reports he may be close to returning. With a game against No. 2 Texas coming up, Lewis will do all he can to play in what is sure to be a high-scoring affair. We would like Lewis for a big week if healthy so stay tuned to the news leading up to Saturday. Status: Questionable

Michael Floyd, Notre Dame: Floyd is owned in 78 percent of Fantasy leagues as he already has 11 receptions for 320 yards and four touchdowns this season for the Irish. When he suffered a leg injury during the fourth quarter of Saturday's game against Michigan, he had owners holding their breath. Never fear, though, Floyd was able to participate fully in practice Tuesday and showed the lightning speed that makes him a dangerous option. With a Week 3 game against Michigan State, Floyd should be fine to start and should be active in most leagues. Status: Probable

Deonte Thompson, Florida: Florida's No. 1 option at receiver is battling a hamstring injury that is considered minor and the Gators expect him to be able to play in their first real test on Saturday against Tennessee. Thompson is owned in 43 percent of Fantasy leagues but after two games only has two receptions to his credit. Of course, after being shut out in the first game of the season, both his Week 2 grabs went for touchdowns. Thompson will be a playmaker for the Gators this season but Florida has plenty of options to spread the ball around to. With a minor hamstring issue, that might be enough to reserve Thompson until he's 100 percent healthy again. Status: Probable

Junior Hemingway, Michigan: Michigan has been impressive this season with wins over Western Michigan and Notre Dame. During Week 1, Hemingway had a breakout game with five catches for 103 yards and two touchdowns and immediately catapulted the Fantasy ownership charts up to 14 percent. And then an ankle injury hit causing him to miss Week 2 against the Irish. Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez told the Detroit Free Press that Hemingway has been practicing this week and he intends for him to play against Eastern Michigan Week 3. Playing an FCS school, you might just give Hemingway one more week to get 100 percent healthy and leave him on your bench this week. Status: Questionable

Tight Ends

Rob Gronkowski, Arizona: Many thought this to be the week that Arizona's best offensive player would return to action. Wildcat coach Mike Stoops squashed that rumor on Wednesday. With Arizona facing the Iowa Hawkeyes in Week 3, Stoops told the Arizona Daily Star that his tight end, Gronkowski, who has already missed the team's first two games because of his strained back, would miss a third. Stoops refused to go into specifics on the injury but something may be up. The All-Conference tight end had returned to practice on Monday and Tuesday this week, making many believe he was ready for his season's first action. That mysteriously changed Wednesday as Gronkowski did not dress for practice and instead spent some time riding a stationary bike and then watching the rest of practice from the sidelines. If something happened to worsen his condition, Gronkowski could not be an extended absence for Arizona and Fantasy owners. “I'm not going to get into his injury, but he's out,” Stoops said. “End of story.” Gronkowski could be the No. 1 overall tight end in Fantasy but until he sees the field he's wasting a roster spot on your bench. Hopefully your replacement for him over the first two weeks can continue to be serviceable a while longer. Status: Out

Greg Boone, Virginia Tech: Virginia Tech's top tight end option sprained the joint that connects his breast and collar bones Week 1 against Alabama and could not return to play Week 2 against Marshall. Boone claims he's ready to play Week 2 when the Hokies host Nebraska, but he is by no means 100 percent healthy. “I still got some lingering effects,” Boone told the Washington Post on Tuesday after practice, “but I'm going to play.” Boone has been practicing this week and has been back to full speed as he participates in all drills but he did say that it still hurts when he moves his arm across his body. Boone is a clear No. 1 TE in Fantasy, when healthy, but we are not yet sold that he is completely. Nebraska has a tough defense but a healthy Boone could still be a big factor in the game. Still, you might consider using a backup option, perhaps the one you used in Week 2, because even if he plays, he might not be at full strength. Status: Questionable
