The Steelers reverted Nichols to their practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Nichols was elevated ahead of Sunday's win over Indianapolis and played eight of 60 offensive snaps, taking one carry for six yards. He also chipped in with 11 snaps on special teams. Nichols' elevation came as a result of Rico Dowdle missing the contest due to a toe injury. Dowdle is expected to be back Week 6, so Nichols may not be elevated again Sunday versus Tampa Bay.
