The Patriots have released Washington.
The veteran was unable to show enough this summer to land a spot on the Patriots' 53-man roster, with the move probably representing good news for fellow wideout Keshawn Martin, in terms of his chances of sticking with the team. Meanwhile, Aaron Dobson, Chris Harper, DeAndre Carter and Devin Lucien are also in the mix for depth WR slotting.
