Griffin (back) signed a one-year contract with the Panthers on Tuesday.
Griffin, a 10-year veteran, signed with the Vikings during the offseason but was cut by the team before the start of the season after being placed on injured reserve due to a back injury. The Panthers have not commented on the health status of Griffin, but look for updates to come later in the week. Once healthy, Griffin could potentially compete with Kurt Coleman for the starting job at strong safety.
