The Saints placed Shaheed (knee) on injured reserve Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
Shaheed thus will miss at least the next four games, but the meniscus surgery that he's undergoing Thursday in Los Angeles ultimately will determine if he has a chance to return to the Saints' active roster this season. If he ends up having a full repair, he'll be out for the rest of the campaign.
