Ebron is expected to miss extended time and could require surgery to address the knee injury he sustained in the Steelers' Week 11 loss to the Chargers, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Though Mike Tomlin characterized Ebron as questionable for the Steelers' upcoming game Sunday against the Bengals, the coach noted the team wouldn't have a better sense of the tight end's status until after he underwent further evaluation. Ebron was seemingly sent in for additional testing Tuesday, and the initial diagnosis he received apparently wasn't encouraging. According to Fowler, Ebron is set to get a second opinion on his knee, but a procedure of some sort is considered the most likely outcome at this juncture. The Steelers signed another tight end (Kevin Rader) to the 53-man roster Tuesday, signaling that Ebron isn't expected to be ready to go for at least Sunday's game.
