Freiermuth is in the concussion protocol, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Freiermuth was examined for a head injury in the aftermath of Sunday's 41-10 loss at Cincinnati after hauling in all four of his targets for 40 yards and one touchdown. He'll need to clear league protocols in order to be available for game action, but getting back on the practice field quickly would be an indication that Freiermuth is making progress. With Eric Ebron (knee) on injured reserve, Zach Gentry and Kevin Rader currently are the healthiest tight ends on the Steelers' active roster.
