Texans' Davis Mills: Holds his own in Week 3 loss
Mills completed 19 of 28 passes for 168 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions in the Texans' 24-9 loss to the Panthers on Thursday night. He also rushed once for no gain and recovered a fumble.
Making his first NFL start on a short week against a defense that was ranked No. 1 on a yards-per-game basis against both the run and pass, Mills turned in an admirable albeit pedestrian fantasy performance. Mills took four sacks and nine hits overall in the contest, but also displayed good rapport with the trio of Brandin Cooks, Jordan Akins and Anthony Miller in particular, hitting the latter for his one touchdown pass of the night. With Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) on injured reserve, Mills projects to be under center again in a Week 4 road battle against the Bills on Sunday, Oct. 3.
