We here at CBS SportsLine.com monitor thousands of Fantasy Football trades on a weekly basis, ensuring that leagues are being operated on the up-and-up. This season, we'll pick a handful of trades coming through the office and provide some analysis every Wednesday.
Tue., Sept. 13: Davis, Domanick, RB, HOU and Jackson, Darrell, WR, SEA for Wayne, Reggie, WR, IND and Westbrook, Brian, RB, PHI ...
Analysis: Davis was less than impressive in Houston's season-opening loss to Buffalo. The Texans as a whole struggled offensively, a troubling sign for owners who paid dearly for both Davis and WR Andre Johnson. In addition, we have Jackson rated slightly higher than Wayne, so the owner parting with Westbrook and Wayne is making out slightly in this deal, assuming Davis returns to his form of a year ago in the coming weeks.
Mon., Sept. 12: Taylor, Fred, RB, JAC for Johnson, Larry, RB, KC ...
Analysis: All the talk after Week 1 was the performance turned in by L.J., who out-ran Priest Holmes. Will the Cheifs employ a two-headed machine at running back, ala Christian Okoye and Barry Word? Owners who have both Johnson and Holmes might want to ride both of them in the coming weeks, but don't underestimate Taylor, who appears healthy. Until Johnson proves he can be a consistent part of the offense each week, the owner acquiring Taylor makes out.
Tue., Sept. 13: Brown, Chris, RB, TEN for Johnson, Larry, RB, KC ...
Analysis: Outside of maybe Willie Parker, Johnson may be the most active trade participant over the next few weeks. Another 100-yard performance in Oakland and he might become one of the more coveted backs in Fantasy Football. In this case, Brown is splitting time with Travis Henry and neither ran wild in Week 1. This is basically a trade between two part-time backs, with Johnson possessing more potential. The owner getting L.J. gets the better end of this one.
Tue., Sept. 13: Smith, Jimmy, WR, JAC; Taylor, Fred, RB, JAC; Vick, Michael, QB, ATL for Jordan, LaMont, RB, OAK and Manning, Peyton, QB, IND ...
Analysis: First off, there are three productive players here in exchange for two. Furthermore, Jordan is somewhat of an unproven commodity, considered he's never started for a full season. The owner getting Vick, Taylor and Smith wins out here, despite the presence of Manning.
Thu., Sept. 8: Culpepper, Daunte, QB, MIN and Dillon, Corey, RB, NE for Alexander, Shaun, RB, SEA and Hasselbeck, Matt, QB, SEA ...
Analysis: Culpepper will be more productive than Hasselbeck over the long haul but Dillon is slightly below Alexander. A trade where clearly both sides compromised in one area to improve in another.
