McCoy (knee) announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday. McCoy has decided to hang up his cleats after an 11-year career that included stints with the Buccaneers, Panthers and the Raiders. The defensive lineman recorded 334 tackles, including 59.5 sacks, while forcing six fumbles, recovering four fumbles and deflecting 24 passes over 140 games. The six-time Pro Bowler selection and one-time All-Pro selection was one of the most dominant at his position during his career.

The Raiders ruled McCoy (knee) out for the remainder of Monday's game against the Ravens. McCoy had to be carted off the field, which suggests the knee injury is probably pretty serious. The six-time Pro Bowler was looking to get back on track after he missed the entire 2020 campaign with a ruptured quadriceps.

McCoy (knee) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports. McCoy didn't practice Wednesday, but he's now on track to draw his usual start against the Saints on Sunday. The veteran defensive end hasn't yet missed a game this season despite battling multiple lingering injuries.

McCoy (ankle) was a full participant in Friday's practice. McCoy appears set for his usual starting workload during Sunday's divisional tilt in Atlanta. The veteran defensive end has regularly played through lingering injuries this season.

McCoy (ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Redskins, Alaina Getzenberg of The Charlotte Observer reports. McCoy was on the wrong end of a cut block by offensive lineman Donald Penn, and was seen receiving extra treatment from the medical staff on the sideline. With the Panthers already thin on their offensive line due to injuries, the only healthy depth defensive line players are Efe Obada and Stacy McGee.
