Cooks caught one of three targets for 13 yards during Sunday's 29-20 loss to Atlanta. Cooks was in line to serve as the 49ers' top wide receiver for Week 7 due to the absences of Mike Evans (Achilles) and Deebo Samuel (hamstring). Cooks' 45 offensive snaps were second-most among 49ers wideouts behind Jordan Watkins (50), although the former had only once catch to show for his extra playing time, which didn't happen until the final minute of the fourth quarter. Cooks has three catches on seven targets for 33 yards and a touchdown over his last three games, but his role could shrink significantly following the 49ers' Week 8 bye depending on the statuses of Evans, Samuel and Demarcus Robinson (ankle, IR).

Cooks could be set to work as San Francisco's top wideout Week 7 against Atlanta, as both Mike Evans (Achilles) and Deebo Samuel (hamstring) have been ruled out for the contest, per Brooke Evans of the team's official site. Cooks logged a season-high 52 percent offensive snap share in Monday's win over Washington while Samuel was sidelined, and now Evans is set to miss at least one game as well. Cooks managed just one catch on two targets for 13 yards across his 32 offensive snaps, however, as QB Brock Purdy directed a majority of his 29 passes to tight end George Kittle (eight targets) and running back Christian McCaffrey (10 targets). Kittle and McCaffrey could be looked to often again in Week 7, with Cooks, Jordan Watkins, Jacob Cowing and Christian Kirk (calf) potentially competing for WR targets.

Cooks brought in one of two targets for 13 yards in the 49ers' 23-17 win over the Commanders on Monday night. Cooks unsurprisingly played a minor role in the air attack as one of four players with one catch on the night. The veteran wideout has two receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown on five targets over the three games for which he's been active to date, and with Demarcus Robinson (ankle) not likely to return from injured reserve until Week 8, Cooks is likely to suit up again in a Week 7 road matchup against the Falcons on Sunday.

The 49ers signed Cooks from the practice squad to the active roster Thursday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. Cooks spent a little more than a week on San Francisco's practice squad before joining a position group that currently has two injured players on the active roster and four on injured reserve. He split time between the Saints and Bills in 2025, combining for a 24-279-0 line on 36 targets in 15 regular-season games.

Cooks agreed Tuesday to sign with the 49ers' practice squad, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. San Francisco marks the eighth career stop for Cooks, who has racked up 9,811 receiving yards and 62 total touchdowns since entering the NFL as a first-round pick of the Saints in 2014. The 32-year-old will provide the 49ers with some much-needed depth after the WR depth chart was ravaged by injuries. Because he didn't participate in training camp with a team, Cooks could need time to regain conditioning and may not be ready to jump into action for a Week 3 game against the Cardinals. Expect him to be elevated from the practice squad or signed to the 49ers' 53-man roster once he's fully up to speed.
