Jones was released by the Raiders on Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Jones, who has not played with the Raiders this season, was on the reserve/non-football illness list at the time of this transaction and also was arrested Thursday in relation to two violations of a domestic temporary restraining order. The league is aware of Jones' arrest and is "closely monitoring the matter."

Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels said Wednesday that Jones is away from the team's facility due to a "private matter," NFL.com reports. Jones' absence for the Raiders' first official practice of the regular season comes one day after he wrote in a since-deleted social media post that he no longer wanted to play for the Raiders. The veteran edge rusher is coming off a 2022 campaign in which he tallied 38 tackles and 4.5 sacks in 15 games with Las Vegas, but at this stage, his status for Sunday's season opener against the Broncos is unclear.
