Wilson (foot) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Rams, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. Wilson is a candidate to land on injured reserve, and he'll be inactive Monday. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return.

The 49ers are signing Wilson to a one-year contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Wilson split the first eight years of his career evenly between the Patriots and Lions before spending time with the Colts in 2020. The veteran now stands to bolster the 49ers' secondary depth, a role which will make him unlikely to pop up on the IDP radar unless starters in front of him go down.

Wilson will start at strong safety Sunday at Houston, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports. The veteran safety has played a minor defensive role this season but will start this weekend with Khari Willis (back/quadriceps) ruled out. Wilson had 98 total tackles and one sack while starting 13 of 16 games for the Lions in 2019.

Wilson signed with the Colts on Tuesday. Wilson bounced in and out of the starting lineup in Detroit over the past four seasons, with his stint highlighted by last year's career-high 98 tackles. The 30-year-old could serve as the No. 3 safety in Indianapolis, where Malik Hooker and Khari Willis are expected to be the starters. The team also has rookie third-round pick Julian Blackmon, but he's still rehabbing from an ACL tear he suffered in December.

Wilson (hamstring) is officially active for Sunday's matchup with the Packers. Wilson was listed as questionable despite finishing the week with a full practice Friday, so it's not a major surprise he's suiting up for the finale. The 29-year-old should work in his usual every-down role at strong safety for Detroit.
