Nassib announced Wednesday via his personal Instagram account that he has retired from professional football. Though he only just turned 30 years old in April, Nassib has now decided that the time is right to hang up his football cleats. The 2016 third-round pick out of Penn State played seven seasons in the NFL with the Browns, Buccaneers and Raiders, accumulating 187 tackles, 25.5 sacks, an interception and four forced fumbles.

Nassib (pectoral) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Nassib is slated to miss his second consecutive matchup as a result of the pectoral injury he sustained back in Week 14 versus the 49ers. In his absence, both Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Anthony Nelson are in line to handle an increased snap count this weekend in Arizona.

Head coach Todd Bowles said Friday that Nassib (pectoral) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Nassib is now slated to miss his first contest of the 2022-23 campaign after he failed to practice all week due to a pectoral injury. With both of fellow linebackers Joe Tryon-Shoyinka (hip) and Genard Avery (abdomen) currently listed as questionable to play this weekend, along with Cam Gill (foot) and Shaquil Barrett (Achilles) presently on injured reserve, Anthony Nelson and K.J. Britt are candidates to handle more snaps Sunday versus Cincinnati.

Nassib recorded a sack and a pass defensed during the Buccaneers' 20-18 loss to the Steelers in Week 6. The veteran edge rusher tallied his second quarterback takedown in the last three games while logging a modest 13 snaps. Nassib has only reached the 20-snap threshold once over the first six games, and he figures to continue operating in a similar capacity unless injuries strike alongside the Buccaneers' defensive front.

Nassib (undisclosed) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday. Nassib sat out Week 17 while on the COVID-19 list but has now cleared the NFL protocols. He should return to his role as a rotational defensive end Sunday against the Chargers as the Raiders attempt to secure a playoff spot.
