The Seahawks placed Burns on injured reserve Tuesday due to a toe injury, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. Burns injured his toe during the Seahawks' Week 6 loss against the 49ers on Thursday. It's the same toe he injured during the preseason, and the 2016 first-round pick will be forced to miss at least the next four regular-season games, making Week 12 against the Cardinals on Nov. 24 the earliest he can return.

Burns suffered a foot injury in Thursday's Week 6 game against San Francisco and has been ruled out for the remainder of the contest, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports. Burns was hurt during the second half and was ruled out in the fourth quarter. The 29-year-old was playing in his first game of the campaign Thursday. Burns logged one tackle and two pass defenses prior to his exit.

Burns (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Broncos. Burns was promoted from the practice squad Saturday but ultimately will stay on the sidelines Week 1. The 29-year-old will likely revert to the practice squad, but he may find himself with the opportunity to suit up Week 2 against the Patriots.

Seattle elevated Burns from its practice squad for Sunday's game versus the Broncos, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Burns was carted off the field with a toe injury during the Seahawks' final preseason game versus the Browns, but he's now apparently back in playing shape for Week 1 action. If he plays Sunday, a significant share of his snaps could come on special teams.

Burns exited Saturday night's preseason win over the Browns with a foot injury and did not return, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. Burns was examined on the sideline with a left foot issue before being carted to the locker room. The veteran cornerback has been operating as the Seahawks' nickel corner this summer and started the preseason finale in that spot. A long-term issue would test Seattle's corner depth.
