  Samuel (hamstring) has a chance to return following the 49ers' Week 8 bye, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. All three of Mike Evans (Achilles), Samuel and Demarcus Robinson (ankle) are eyeing a Week 9 return against the Raiders, so the 49ers' wide receiver depth chart could look vastly different coming out of the bye. Samuel would likely go back to his part-time role, handling short-area passes and an occasional handoff or two. He's not a particularly exciting fantasy play when Evans, George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) are all healthy.

  Samuel (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game at Atlanta, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Samuel was always expected to miss multiple games, with the real question being whether he's ready after a Week 8 bye. He hasn't resumed practicing and will now miss a second straight game, which leaves Jordan Watkins, Brandin Cooks, Jacob Cowing and Christian Kirk (calf) as San Francisco's top WR options in the absence of Mike Evans (out - Achilles).

  Samuel (hamstring) is not expected to practice Wednesday, Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group reports. The 49ers are coming off a Monday Night Football win and therefore not holding an official practice Wednesday. That being said, coach Kyle Shanahan said that Samuel would not be practicing. Samuel is working his way back from his hamstring injury and the sense is that a return after the 49ers' Week 8 bye is more realistic at this stage.

  Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Thursday that the 49ers will "hold off" on placing Samuel (hamstring) on IR due to the team's bye in Week 8, Vic Tafur of the Athletic reports. It was reported earlier in the week that Samuel would miss multiple weeks; however, the 49ers are stopping short of placing him on injured reserve for the time being due to how the schedule sets up. Samuel is set to miss at least the Week 6 game against the Commanders and likely the following game against the Falcons before the team gets a bye. Week 9 seems to be the earliest potential return date for the veteran.

  Samuel is expected to miss at least a couple weeks due to a hamstring injury he sustained during the 49ers' 32-29 win over the Seahawks on Sunday, David Lombardi of the San Francisco Standard reports. Samuel underwent an MRI on his hamstring following Sunday's game, and the results showed an injury significant enough for the veteran wide receiver to warrant a multi-week absence. The 49ers are on a bye in Week 8, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Samuel sidelined for the next two games and before returning for Week 9 against the Raiders on Sunday, Nov. 8, per Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com. Christian Kirk (calf) isn't quite ready to return from IR, so Brandin Cooks, Jacob Cowing and Jordan Watkins are candidates step into the WR2 role behind Mike Evans for as long as Samuel is sidelined.
